Today we were in Emerald so we decided to have a look around the town. First it was to the largest easel painting in the world. It really is big at 25 metres tall.
It is surrounded by a pathway with several mosaic murals which show the history of the town. The kids liked the one they called the 'time warp of death'. (It was one of the 'creation' murals).
We then saw the ornate old railway station:
The 250 million year old fossilised tree:
And the clocktower:
In the afternoon we headed to the botanic gardens. They had a good sized playground with a monorail peddle bike system. It was good fun, but I think I will be sore tomorrow after taking Lachlan and Cooper on a few laps.
On to Longreach tomorrow.
